Fair Change Makes Headlines

Fair Change's client Gerry Williams was featured on CBC Metro Morning this month, along with Fair Change Co-Director and Advocate Dan Ciarabellini. Read the original story here and listen to Dan on CBC Radio here.

The hard work of Dan, Gerry and many members of the clinic saw nearly $70 000 in fines dropped to $0 -- a huge victory. On top of this, the judge considered the Aboriginal heritage of Mr Williams, suggesting potential for the application of Gladue criminal sentencing principles to regulatory quasi-criminal offences in Ontario.

This prompted a wave of coverage for the clinic, including by the Toronto Star, Torontoist, AM 640 and even The Guardian across the pond (with fine quantities displayed in English pounds!)

Former Attorney General Michale Bryant also weighed in in our favour and the National Post ran an Op-Ed by Dan.
